Knowledge changes bad luck

My father is a peasant . He has only received five years of education in school but he can also gain a lot in field work by his diligence .

Last December , I went home for vacation . I learned that father had suffered great losses in breeding ducklings because of an unknown disease and planting watermelons that had rotted away due to the heavy rainfall . Father sighed , “You can never change such unexpected bad luck . ”

I listened to him , saying nothing . The next day I went downtown and brought some agricultural guidance books back home . While scanning one of the books on my strong recommendation , my father said , “ God , if only I had known this !”

Since then , my father has held a different attitude toward books . He succeecded finally . Knowledge changes his bad luck !
